CPHC is determined to be successful through the dedication of individuals, organizations and other stakeholders in order to provide better and more accessible health care solutions for regions of the Caribbean and Latin America. CPHC collaborates with many allies to advance its programs from investing in public health education, to establishing eHealth programs, and expanding access to public health services. Achieving our continued success involves building and strengthening existing relationships with a range of stakeholders to include the public. CPHC is committed to strengthen healthcare and unite communities through improved access to care.
Below are some resources which may be helpful in navigating programs committed to strengthen regions of the Caribbean and Latin America.


The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an international public health agency with 100 years of experience in working to improve health and living standards of the countries of the Americas. It serves as the specialized organization for health of the Inter-American System. It also serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization and enjoys international recognition as part of the United Nations system.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends. In the 21st century, health is a shared responsibility, involving equitable access to essential care and collective defense against transnational threats.

The Caribbean Health Research Council (CHRC) is the regional health institution with the responsibility for the promotion and coordination of health research in the Caribbean. It serves the territories that are member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) secretariat, providing advice to their Ministries of Health and generally support health research and other related activities.

The Caribbean Environmental Health Institute (CEHI) was initially established as a project in an attempt by the Region’s leaders to address the Environmental Health concerns of the people of the English-speaking Caribbean. In 1979 the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Conference of Ministers Responsible for Health formally approved a Caribbean Environmental Health Strategy.

The Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) is a non-partisan, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization established in 1993 dedicated education, advocacy and action on issues that impact on Caribbean –Americans. The purpose of the Institute is to provide a forum for the public and private sector, the non-government organization community, scholars and others interested in promoting a dialogue; and assist in the execution of actions that result from that dialogue.

The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is an independent, non-profit organization 501 (c)(3) that creates public-private partnerships to assist the least advantaged people in Latin America and the Caribbean. PADF was created in 1962 through a unique agreement between the Organization of American States (OAS) and the private sector. PADF engages community-based groups, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), municipal governments, and the private sector in the process of implementing appropriate solutions for sustainable development. Through these partnerships, we seek to achieve excellence and lasting programmatic impacts in creating economic opportunities, promoting social investments, strengthening communities and civil society, and responding to natural disasters.

The Afro-Latino Development Alliance, Inc. (ADA) is a dynamic, young 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of Afro-Latino communities in the United States and throughout Latin America to meet the challenges of global interdependence. In 1999, former Governor Luis Gilberto Murillo and Mr. Robert Asprilla decided to create an organization that would effectively respond to the pressing challenges facing Afro-Latinos and create opportunities for their underserved community.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) established in 1948 initially as an external College of the University of London and made fully independent in 1962, is the oldest, fully regional institution of higher learning in the Commonwealth Caribbean.

The American Public Health Association (APHA) is the oldest, largest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world. The association works to protect all Americans and their communities from preventable, serious health threats. APHA represents a broad array of health officials, educators, environmentalists, policy-makers and health providers at all levels working both within an outside governmental organizations and education institutions.

The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) is a major resource as well as an advocate promoting access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology. ATA seeks to bring together diverse groups from traditional medicine, academic medical centers, technology and telecommunications companies, e-health, medical societies, government and others to overcome barriers to the advancement of telemedicine through the professional, ethical and equitable improvement in health care delivery.

Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies is one of the nation's premier research and public policy institutions and the only one whose work focuses exclusively on issues of particular concern to African Americans and other people of color. For over three decades, our research and information programs have informed and influenced public opinion and national policy to benefit not only African Americans, but every American. The Joint Center's current research and analyses address critical issues in three key areas: political participation; economic advancement; and health policy.

The Kaiser Family Foundation, a leader in health policy and communications, is a non-profit, private operating foundation focusing on the major health care issues facing the U.S., with a growing role in global health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2006. Since day one (July 1, 1946), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been a leader in Public Health.
